After a long time, the new version with some small bugfixes is ready. Most notably, the webservices should now work with PHP 5.3 and the installation routine uses more compatible MySQL syntax.

JCollection 0.10.0rc1 ready for download!

0 Trackbacks

Finally, the release candidate 1 (version 0.10.0rc1) of JCollection is ready for download on the JCollection homepage. Go ahead and try it! The translations (English/German) are more or less complete, there are a number of new plugins for all sorts of webservices, and a lot of improvements. Don't forget to get back to the JCollection forums and let me know if you like it or if you have found any bugs!

Please note that the documentation is somewhat outdated, new manuals and tutorials will be released. Meanwhile, have a look at the first two JCollection screencasts.

Translations

0 Trackbacks

There is a second "TP" ("technology preview") version of JCollection! It is a lot easier to use, at least I hope so. There is a feature freeze now, and I have started to translate everything to German. As soon as this is done, there will be a Release Candidate!

New JCollection features

0 Trackbacks

The JCollection development progresses nicely, the next version is on the horizon! The latest features:

  • lists that are filled automatically by webservice searches (for example by an Amazon keyword search)
  • new webservices: DNB (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, German National Library - only upon request!), Librarything, Openlibrary and tmDB (The Movie DB)
  • VirtueMart export

JCollection Technology Preview

0 Trackbacks

Here it is, the first technology preview of the new JCollection generation 0.10.0tp1. The main improvement (besides bugfixes, of course) is that the import/export filters and the webservice functionality has been moved into plugins, which makes future enhancements much easier. The standard distribution of JCollection includes some common plugins and modules, and there is a "simple" distribution, which only includes some basic features (and the Amazon webservice). The "pure" distribution consists of the component only, additional modules and plugins have to be downloaded and installed manually. The inclusion of a stock management and an interface to library services is still work-in-progress, but at least it is progressing nicely. There is a demo of the technology preview at demo.jcollection.info.
